Sliders – the Perfect American Appetizer!
As much as I love a juicy burger, it’s messy eating it. Enter the slider! The possibilities are endless with this mini-burger. I like to use the Hawaiian buns because they offer a slight sweetness in contrast to the savory fillings inside, but you can certainly use any bread you like. The idea is that you can finish it in a couple of bites. These are the perfect thing to serve up at a cocktail party, as an appetizer. My kids love it as the main course. You can use shredded beef, popcorn chicken drenched in buffalo sauce, or even shrimp for a shrimp po-boy slider. Make some for 4th of July as you enjoy the fireworks!
Ingredients:
1 cup shredded beef (leftovers from a pot roast dinner the night before!) For recipe, click here.
Shredded lettuce dressed in Ranch
Pepper Jack cheese slices.
Mayo and mustard as needed
Directions:
- Cut the Hawaiian rolls in half through the center, but don’t separate into individual sliders just yet. It will make managing the ingredients easier.
- Spread mayo/mustard on one side of the rolls. On the other half, spread cheese and stick this under a broiler, or a hot oven, for a minute or so to melt the cheese slightly. Keep an eye on it. You don’t want to burn the cheese or overcook those deliciously soft buns!
- Shred the beef and spread it on the other half. Layer with the dressed lettuce. (You can also add other accompaniments like tomatoes, jalapenos, onions if you wish)
- Put the half with the melted cheese on top of your layered beef and lettuce.
Run a sharp knife through the rolls to separate them into individual sliders. - Serve as is, or pair it with the guacamole and chips.
